Version 1

'Version 1' is the first completed and working object within a new project set out by me to create tools and machines which can record places and/or journeys. The images made by the objects will be made out in the field and will then be presented as final recordings, removing any further editing process. This project will be seen as a celebration of my time spent in the city of Sheffield, as previous projects have been inspired by the environment around me primarily in the form of photography, print and object making. The objects created will record places and journeys with minimal technology, however may be complex in design, process and use.

Similarly to my previous process based work and projects, 'Version 1' has been created with function in mind, following set rules and priorities made by myself. This being the first version, I plan to continue and evolve this project adding further complexity and functions to the design.

Alongside the function of my objects, there is also a recurring theme of impracticality of use, and this can be seen in previous work such as ‘Printing Sculpture E’. This is a feature of my practice I want to continue to work with collectively with function and rules.
