It's Begining to Look a Lot Like Christmas

I work in a variety of mediums, mainly photography, drawing and moving image to create works that explore the change in the built environment, as well as the small, subtle changes that take place every day all around us. I use my work to present observations that I find unusual or strange which I feel would otherwise go unnoticed.

A recurring subject for my work has been Park Hill Flats, a brutalist post-war housing estate which fell into disrepair, but is now undergoing a regeneration. My latest work 'Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas...' is a series of photographs of the run down section of Park Hill with Christmas decorations edited into them. It is a critique of the regeneration, using nostalgia and humour to reflect on the flaws behind its design.
